For the last thirteen years the Saltwater Cafe has been constantly improving. At first it was just Chef Rolf, his wife Barry, and his parents Pavel and Katharina. They started with a simple menu a little larger than a greeting card. At the time it worked well, however as the community's needs grew the menu has grown to over 300 items, something for everyone. The menu now contains everything from simple Swiss ham sandwiches to imported caviar. Along with changes in the menu he building has changed. In the beginning it was simply growth as the Saltwater Cafe expanded it size as space became available. Now there are constant small changes in décor to ensure a enjoyable to keep the restaurant fresh, and a major redecoration every two years to ensure that all the guest experience the best that the Saltwater has to offer. Today the atmosphere allows guests to feel at home weather they are there for a casual lunch to a pull out all the stops wedding. Along with changes to the menu and building the wine list has grown to contain, at last count 578 different bottles of wine. Even with all this constant change a commitment to the quality of food and service has not been compromised. There are daily deliveries of fresh seafood, beef and produce to ensure every thing is fresh and the highest quality available. Rolf is constantly on the phone to both local fisherman and suppliers of the highest quality seafood from around the world. This results in at least seven fresh fish daily. Not to mention fresh oysters, mussels, shrimp, and seasonal items such as stone crab. It is not just the seafood though. Similar effort is put in to the land fare also. The steaks served are Creekstone all natural Black Angus beef. The highest quality available. It doesn't just end with the food the guest see though, even smaller ingredients are watched. For example all trans fat free oils are used, and guest with special dietary needs are welcome. It isn't unusual for Rolf to prepare gluten free dishes Because of all this the Saltwater Cafe has won numerous awards. The wine cellar has won awards from Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator. Florida Trend magazine recognized the Saltwater Cafe as one of the top 500 restaurants in the entire state. Along with these The Saltwater Cafe has covered a entire wall with local awards. Amazingly even with this the prices still allow everyone to enjoy Chef Rolfs cuisine. There are daily lunch specials including a choice of 5 express lunches for only $5.99. Monday is lobster day, with live Main lobster for $16.99. Tuesday has the steam pot special for only $12.99. Wednesday is crab day with a pound of snow crab for $14.99. On Thursday locals enjoy a whole pound of prime rib for only $16.99. One of the new additions to the menu is a sirloin and shrimp combo for $16.99 or a entire 3 course meal for 2 people including a bottle of wine is only $39.99. It is truly amazing.
