Venice Area Mobile Meals, Inc. has provided a "meals on wheels" like service to the Venice area for the past 40 years, 6 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Their mission is to provide a hot noon time meal to anyone that is unable to prepare their own meal. A hot entrée, two vegetables, salad and desert are included. Venice Area Mobile Meals, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, an entirely community supported and unpaid volunteer service, governed and managed responsibly by a board of directors. Financial support is not received from any government entity. Most recipients who can pay for the meals they receive, do so. Costs are defrayed by donations received each year from individuals and community organizations. The meal service area extends from Blackburn Point Road to the north in Osprey, to Manasota Beach Road in South Venice to the south, and Route 75 and River Road to the East. Like services beyond this service area are available from Englewood, North Port and Sarasota meal organizations. Venice Area Mobile Meals, Inc. operates with approximately 200 volunteers, mostly drivers that deliver meals, but also utilizes route directors, office managers, data entry volunteers and substitutes. Office is located at 920 Tamiami Trail South, Venice FL, 34285, is staffed 6 days a week, from 8 to 11 am.
