Venice is located in the Eastern Time Zone at map coordinates 27.098674 -82.438985. Venice is a principal city of the Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 25.0 km² (9.7 mi²). 23.6 km² (9.1 mi²) of it is land and 1.4 km² (0.6 mi²) of it (5.69%) is water. It is located on the Gulf of Mexico coast, on the West coast of Florida. It is a little over an hour driving time from Tampa, Fl or 80 miles. Venice is approximately 60 miles from Ft. Myers or an hour and ten minutes driving time. Sarasota County has about 35 miles of beaches on its coast. Venice, Fl is not to be mistaken with Venice, California which is also a beach community. Also Venice, Italy which is the most well known of the "Venices."
