Fish and Wildlife Commission
DESCRIPTION
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission...Serving Florida with Law Enforcement, Research, Management and Outreach since 1999. The FWC enforces rules to protect fish and wildlife, works with other law enforcement agencies to provide homeland security, as well as keeping the waterways safe for millions of boaters. Law enforcement officers are among the first to respond when natural disasters occur and use their specialized equipment to access hard-to-reach locations. FWC scientists provide information involving fish and wildlife populations, habitat issues, and the human-dimension aspects of conservation. They use this data when managing resources with the goal of conserving some of the most complex and delicate ecosystems in the world involving a wide diversity of species. FWC community outreach involves hunter safety training, boating safety classes, birding classes, classing instructing on the outdoors and coexisting with wildlife and answering questions via telephone and email any related topics.
Venice Police Department...Inspiring confidence and trust from those they protect and serve. The Uniformed Patrol Division operates within seven zones of the city and is the first responder to citizen complaints and law enforcement emergencies. They are also responsible for investigating traffic crashes, traffic control and enforcement, parking enforcement, coordination of special event duties, marine and bike patrol, and electronic dispatching and recording of calls for service.
Sarasota County Sheriff Department...Providing community protection and services from youth to senior. Patrolling a county of approximately 500 square miles with a population of more than 350,000 people, the main objective is to uphold the principles and values embodied in the constitutions of the United States and the State of Florida. The patrol bureau's three shifts respond to more than 100,000 calls for service each year. The Department is committed to youth by providing an anti-drug "DARE" education program in Sarasota County schools, the Cadet/Explorer Program for those exploring a career in law enforcement, and School Resource Officers. Other programs focus on helping the seniors of Sarasota County; these include "Seniors and Law Enforcement Together," or S.A.L.T., the Citizens Patrol, and Safety Tips especially for seniors.
